He has received external funding for his research projects including personal PhD and Post Doc research funding from the Research Council of Norway (RCN). He is also the primary investigator of a number of <strong>international collaborative research projects on clean energy technologies funded through INCP, UTFORSK and NORPART programs run by Norwegian Center for International Cooperation in Education<\/strong>. Velauthapillai in association with international partners has organized a number of international conferences on clean energy technologies with the funding from RCN and other international funding agencies.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Professor Dhayalan Velauthapillai<\/strong> has versatile research activities in the field of physics and nanotechnology. The ANCEA research group of Dhayalan Velauthapillai focuses on mathematical modeling, computer simulation, synthesis, characterization of advanced nano materials with particular emphasis on third and fourth generation solar cells and fuel cells. The research group has the vision to develop low weight, flexible and low cost solar cell technologies based on metal oxides, dyes, polymers and perovskite materials.concentrates on computational and experimental studies on advanced nanomaterials for clean energy and health applications. He has also research activities in electromagnetic modeling, crystal optics, diffractive optics, microlenses and focusing and propagation of electromagnetic waves in isotropic and isotropic medium. Velauthapillai leads also a project on energy policy and management with external funding.\u00a0 He has been supervisor for several master and PhD candidates in the field of computational modelling and clean energy technologies. He is currently <strong>supervising 13 PhD candidates<\/strong> from HVL and collaborating international institutions from India, Sri Lanka, South Korea and UK. He has also served on the evaluation committee for several PhD theses. He has over <strong>125 research and conference articles with peer-review<\/strong> to his credit, and serves as a reviewer for several international journals on nanomaterials, optics and clean energy technologies. He has also guest edited a special issue on third generation solar cells for the Solar Energy journal.<\/p>\n<p>Professor Dhayalan Velauthapillai has won several awards and recognition including<strong> \u2018Excellence in teaching award\u2019, \u2018Top 10\u2019 award and \u2018Best Professor\u2019 awards<\/strong>. After a postdoctoral period at Imperial College, Dr.P.Ravirajan returned to University of Jaffna, Sri Lanka, where he was promoted from Lecturer to senior lecturer and then full professor in Physics in 2005 and 2009, respectively.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Prof.P.Ravirajan<\/strong> won research grants over 30 million rupees (~USD 200,000) from National (NRC, NSF) and International (IFS, Sweden &amp; RS, UK) institutions for more than six different research projects in the field of Nanoscience and established well equipped research laboratory for fabricating and characterizing Nanostructured Solar cells at the University of Jaffna despite of unsettled condition prevailed in Jaffna Peninsula until 2009. He established international research collaboration with several leading universities or research institutions such as Imperial College London, Edinburgh University, UK, University of Illinois at Chicago, USA, Kyungpook National University, South Korea and University of Bergen, Norway.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Prof.P.Ravirajan<\/strong> won three national awards such as <strong>CVCD Excellence Award &#8211; for the most Outstanding Young Researcher in Physical Sciences<\/strong> for the Year 2006, <strong>Presidential Awards for Scientific Publications\u00a0<\/strong>for more than five time and <strong>Young Scientist Award<\/strong> for the Year 2008 by SCOPUS, Elsevier Publisher, The Netherlands and NSF. Further, he won a few prestigious international awards such as Postgraduate Scholarship (2001\u20132004) Awards, UK, Royal Society Visiting Fellowship (2006), Commonwealth Fellowship (2014) and <strong>Prof.P.Ravirajan<\/strong> published over seventy research publications which include high impact factor journal articles which have been cited by his fellow scientists in more than <a href=\"http:\/\/scholar.google.com\/citations?hl=en&amp;user=l1wPmm8AAAAJ\"><strong>2000<\/strong><\/a> in indexed journal articles so far. He served as Head\/Physics and Director\/Staff Development Centre for two terms since 2012.
